The Security Association for the Maritime Industry – SAMI – is the UK based regulatory body for the maritime security sector. Maritime security became a growth industry from 2010, when piracy (highjacking & ransoms) especially around the Horn of Africa became prevalent. Merchant ships to private superyachts wary of piracy attacks hired armed guards to patrol their vessels around the piracy hot spots. SAMI is a membership organisation, promoting good practice amongst its 100+ members.
From the early stages of setting up SAMI, it’s founder & CEO Peter Cook asked TransportPR to increase the visibility of the organisation amongst decision makers & key broadsheet journalists.
