The Digital Railway has been heralded as one of the greatest technological advances in the British railway system in a century. The European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) or Digital Railway is set to revolutionise the way our rail network is operated making it more robust, cost-effective, and safer and will significantly increase capacity.
The new digital system monitors the position of every train on the line and controls speed and distance between trains by relay through a central control system, removing the need for line-side signals, optimising train spacing and allowing ‘moving blocks’ that reduce distance between trains to a bare minimum without any compromise on safety.
As part of the cross-industry Digital Railway agenda. TransportPR with CPC Project Services supported the development of the ERTMS website, involving copywriting, video production and industry stakeholder management.
